Conference and Grand Reception dedicated to the 25th Anniversary of Independence of Turkmenistan held in Tokyo

On November 10, 2016 at the Tokyo "Palace" hotel, the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Japan has organized Conference titled "Turkmenistan's Initiatives on the development of the Global sustainable transport system". During the Conference the video about V Asian Indoor Games and martial arts to be held in 2017 in Ashgabat, was also shown. On the same day, the Grand Reception on the occasion of the 25th Anniversary of Independence of Turkmenistan was also held.

The Conference was attended by 200 people. During the event the speeches were made by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to Japan G.Elyasov, Member of the Parliament, former State Minister for Internal Affairs and Telecommunications of Japan Mr.Matsushita Shimpei, Vice-Chairman of "Itochu" corporation, Chairman of the Japan-Turkmen Committee for economic cooperation Mr.Yoichi Kobayashi , Director of the economic research Institute of CIS countries, ROTOBO Ms.Miki Wajima, Former Japanese Ambassador to Turkmenistan Mr.Hideomi Nakajima, President of Tsukuba University Dr.Kyosuke Nagata, President of Tokyo University of Foreign Studies Dr.Hirotaka Tateishi, as well as President of Hirosaki University Dr.Kei Sato. Speakers shared their views on the high achievements of Turkmenistan and its prospects, as well as the development of transport system and V Asian Indoor Games and martial arts.

Then, from 18:30 to 20:30, Grand Reception was held with the participation of 400 people. At this event Ambassador G.Elyasov, Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan Mr.Hiroshi Seko, Member of the Parliament, Chairman of the Parliamentary Japanese-Turkmen friendship League Mr.Toshiaki Endo, Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan Mr.Motome Takisawa, and the State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan Mr.Kentaro Sonoura have made Congratulatory addresses.

During the event Japanese musicians (pianist and violinist) have played Turkmen music, and Japanese students of Tokyo University of Foreign Studies performed a number of Turkmen dances. In addition, an exhibition of photographs, books, folk-applied products was organized by the Embassy. Copies of the book of esteemed President titled "Tea - a medicine and inspiration", which was translated into Japanese, were also distributed amongst the guests.

Both events were held at a high level, and aroused great interest about Turkmenistan among the participants.
