Issues of further strengthening of cooperation between Turkmenistan and Japan in the field of science and technology development considered in Tokyo

On 25 March 2025, Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Japan A.Bayramov met with President of the Japan-Turkmen Association for Cooperation in Science and Technology, Professor Hideomi Koinuma in Tokyo. The meeting was also attended by representatives of the University of Tokyo, Tohoku University, Chiba University and Japanese company ‘Tohkemy Corporation’.

During the meeting, the sides discussed issues of further strengthening cooperation between Turkmenistan and Japan in the field of science and technology development, summarised the results of 2024 and defined the tasks for 2025.

The Japanese side expressed the intentions of the country's higher educational institutions to establish cooperation with Turkmenistan in medicine, agriculture, decarbonisation, ‘green’ technologies, etc. It is proposed to organise online meetings with relevant universities and ministries and departments of Turkmenistan in the near future to identify mutual interests of the partnership. In addition, it is proposed to sign documents on co-operation in the field of water treatment technologies.
