Institute of International Relations of the Foreign Ministry hosts the conference on Afghanistan
Representatives of the Government structures and diplomats as well as experts of the Central, South and South – East Asia took part in academic forum organized with support of the OSCE under the 7th Conference of Regional Economic Cooperation for Afghanistan (RECCA VII). Afghan delegation was chaired by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Adela Raz.
Approaches to consolidation of regional cooperation in the Central, South and South – East Asia have been discussed at the meeting in the Institute of International Relations.
The event was organized by the Centre of Strategic Researches of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan in the partnership with the Institute of International Relations of the Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan and the OSCE Centre in Ashgabat.
In the speeches, the speakers touched upon such subjects as consolidation of cooperation in energy sphere, evaluation of regional and interregional cooperation as well as trade potential and support of transit. Participants of the forum shared the visions of the aspects of regional security and discussed new spheres of economic cooperation emphasizing the role of Afghanistan.
“The OSCE puts efforts for assistance to Afghanistan by various initiatives and the OSCE Centre in Ashgabat has supported the organization of current event under off-budget project, which is aimed at improvement of the dialog on development of regional infrastructure between the members of Istanbul process, also known as the Heart of Asia, - Natalya Drozd, the Head of the OSCE Centre in Ashgabat said. – The forum has presented an excellent opportunity for activation of the dialog between different international, regional and national partners”.
It is stipulated that the outcomes of the meeting will be the foundation for discussion during the forum and session of the working group of RECCA VII, which is planned to be held in Ashgabat in November 2017.
Starting from 2005, the Conference of Regional and Economic Cooperation for Afghanistan serves as a platform for transboundary economic dialog, consolidation of trust and stability in the Central, South and South – East Asia.
