PRESIDENT OF TURKMENISTAN ARRIVED IN KUWAIT ON AN OFFICIAL VISIT

On March 13, 2018, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov arrived in Kuwait on an official visit. At the International Airport decorated with the national flags of Turkmenistan and Kuwait, the high guest was received by the Minister Al-Diwan of the Emir of the State of Kuwait Sheikh Ali Al-Jarrah Al-Sabah, Adviser of the Emir of the State of Kuwait Khalid Youssef Al-Fuladji and other officials of this country, as well as members of the Turkmen government delegation.

From the airport the motorcade of the President of Turkmenistan went to the residence - Al Jahran building of the Emir of the State of Kuwait "Bayan" Palace, from where after a while the Turkmen leader proceeded to the Congress Center.

Here, on the square, the official ceremony of the official meeting of the President of Turkmenistan took place, to which all due honors were given. President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov was introduced to the members of the official delegation of Kuwait, and Emir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah was introduced to the members of the official delegation of Turkmenistan.

Then the meeting of the delegations of the two countries in the enlarged composition began in the Great Hall of the Congress Center. The Turkmen-Kuwaiti summit talks open a new stage in cooperation at the bilateral level, as well as in the format of the UN and other international structures, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Emir Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah noted during the meeting.

One of the central topics at the talks was the trade and economic sphere, where the parties noted the enormous opportunities for building up ties, both in the aspect of solving national problems, and in the context of the trends of the regional and global economy.

Among the key areas were identified the fuel and energy sector, petrochemicals and oil refining, manufacturing industry, investment cooperation. The proposal to create a Turkmen-Kuwaiti working commission for the energy sector was discussed.

In terms of advantageous location of both countries in their regions, there were also conditions for the development of transport and communication systems, the pooling of potentials of which could become another area of cooperation.

At the talks, the sides considered the possibility of creating joint ventures in the production sector based on mutual investment, partnership in such new areas for Turkmenistan as metallurgy, etc.

A proposal was made to hold a bilateral business forum and an exhibition on trade and investment. It was also noted the importance of the creation of an intergovernmental commission, on the site of which it would be possible to consider in detail the current issues of cooperation, exchange views and develop practical measures for the development of trade, economic and cultural ties between the two countries.

As for humanitarian contacts, here the parties agreed to establish cooperation in such areas as science and education, art and creativity.

Then the ceremony of signing bilateral documents took place. In particular, an agreement was signed between the Government of Turkmenistan and the Government of the State of Kuwait on the establishment of a joint Turkmen-Kuwaiti commission on cooperation; Agreement between the Government of Turkmenistan and the Government of the State of Kuwait on the abolition of visa requirements for holders of diplomatic and service / special passports; Memorandum of Understanding on bilateral political consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the State of Kuwait; Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation on mutually beneficial partnerships between the Institute for International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the Saud Al-Nasser Al-Sabah Diplomatic Institute of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the State of Kuwait; Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation between the Government of Turkmenistan and the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development; Agreement between the Government of Turkmenistan and the Government of the State of Kuwait on economic and technical cooperation; Agreement between the Government of Turkmenistan and the Government of the State of Kuwait on trade cooperation, Memorandum of Understanding between the State Concern Turkmengaz and the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation; Agreement between the Government of Turkmenistan and the Government of the State of Kuwait in the field of art and culture.

The sides also adopted a joint document on providing technical support between the Government of Turkmenistan and the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development.

In the afternoon, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held meetings with the Deputy Prime Minister of the State of Kuwait, the Minister for Foreign Affairs, the Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, and the Prime Minister of the State of Kuwait Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah.
