THE PRESIDENT OF TURKMENISTAN TOOK PART IN THE OPENING OF THE COUNTRY'S FIRST «SMART» CITY ARKADAG

On June 29, 2023, a significant, truly historic event has taken place in our country, which will be inscribed in golden letters in the glorious annals of an independent neutral Fatherland, confidently moving along the path of creation, prosperity and progress. With the participation of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, large-scale celebrations were held in honour of the opening of the new city of Arkadag, which is a visible symbol of the era of the Revival of the new epoch of a powerful state. The opening ceremony was also attended by numerous foreign guests.

As you know, the implementation of this mega-project is planned for two stages. At present, the first phase of its construction has been completed, within the framework of which 336 social, cultural and other facilities have been built.

The new city, located in the picturesque foothills of the Kopetdag, is an exemplary example of a «smart» city, the life of which is entirely based on advanced digital, information and communication and «green» technologies. Such an actual aspect as ecology is given special attention here. Thus, environmentally friendly materials were used in the construction of facilities. The successful solution of the tasks set in this area is evidenced by the fact that the city of Arkadag was awarded a certificate of accession to the project «Development of sustainable, green, climate-friendly cities with innovative solutions in the region of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe».

The President of Turkmenistan and high-ranking guests got acquainted with the features of a number of built specialized facilities and residential buildings.

During the opening ceremony, the head of state and guests visited the Ruhyyet Palace, where they took part in a solemn conference. At the forum, the Turkmen side was presented with more than 20 international documents confirming the achievements of the city of Arkadag in various fields.

Then, following the original Turkmen tradition, a festive sadaka (charitable celebration) was given.
