PARTICIPATION OF THE TURKMEN SIDE IN THE SCIENTIFIC AND TECHNICAL CONFERENCE IN TOKYO

On September 7-8, 2023, the international conference “Science and Technology for Sustainable Development 2023” was held in Tokyo, organized by the Scientific Council of Japan, which was attended by members of the Government of Japan, experts from scientific and educational circles from around the world, including representatives of Institute of seismology and atmospheric physics under the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan.

The Turkmen side, delivering its speech, noted that the “smart city” Arkadag, which meets modern world standards, was recently inaugurated and put into operation in Turkmenistan. It was emphasized that the widespread introduction of high technologies and innovations in the new city comply with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

As a result of the event, the Tokyo Statement 2023 was adopted. In particular, the participating countries stressed the need to increase investments in the landscaping and digital transformation of cities. In this context, the Science Council of Japan highly appreciated the efforts of Turkmenistan aimed at achieving the above goals through an innovative transition with a multi-level management strategy.

Within the framework of the implementation of the Technical Cooperation Agreement between the Government of Turkmenistan and the Government of Japan, joint research is being carried out with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) on the carrying out the “Project to improve the seismological monitoring system in Ashgabat and its suburbs”.
