Judoist from Turkmenistan for the first time won a Grand Slam medal

On December 3, the International Grand Slam tournament, considered one of the most prestigious judo competitions, was held in Tokyo, Japan. The two-day international competition was attended by 506 athletes from 84 countries. The national team of Turkmenistan was represented by 8 athletes.

For instance, Turkmen judoka Hekim Agamamedov, who competed in the weight category up to 66 kilograms, won the bronze medal of the tournament. The fighter of the 1001st military unit of the Malikguli Berdimuhamedov Interior Ministry of Turkmenistan defeated American A. Berliner, Azerbaijani Y. Najaf and R. Izvorianu on his way to victory. In addition, he managed to put Brazilian V. Livan and Mongolian E. Buttogtokh into oblivion.

His convincing performance brought the Turkmen athlete to the third step of the podium.
