ONLINE TALKS WITH THE SECRETARY-GENERAL OF THE ENERGY CHARTER HELD IN THE MFA OF TURKMENISTAN

On April 28, 2020, a meeting in videoconference format with the Secretary General of the Energy Charter Dr.Urban Rusnák was held in the premises of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. 

From the Turkmen side, the heads and representatives of a number of ministries of Turkmenistan, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Finance and Economy, Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Energy of Turkmenistan, as well as the Advisor to the President of Turkmenistan on and oil and gas issues, staff members of the State Concerns “Turkmengas” and “Turkmennebit” took part in the event.

During the talks, the parties discussed a number of issues related to further development of bilateral cooperation between Turkmenistan and the Energy Charter, which has attained a qualitatively new level in recent years.  Besides, the parties considered the issues of modernizing the Energy Charter Treaty, transit of energy carriers and the global agenda impact on the world energy markets.  

Also, the Turkmen side noted that it welcomes the work of the Energy Charter Secretariat on the promotion of regional energy markets integration for the attainment of long-term stability and sustainability in the field of energy, as well as the timeliness of regional actions aimed at the assistance to the strategic infrastructural projects on the provision of secure, stable and competitive energy to the consumers.
