In the context of the previously adopted in Turkmenistan National action plans on human rights for the period 2016-2020, on gender equality for the period 2015-2020, and the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the Government of Turkmenistan actively continues the work on their practical implementation, including the adoption in the UN Human Rights Council (HRC) relevant documents and resolutions.

In order to further promotion of the ideas of humanism and protection of human rights at the HRC 36th session, which was held in Geneva, Switzerland, from 11 to 29 September, 2017, Turkmenistan acted as an author of the Joint Statement «On encouragement valuable contribution of the Olympic refugee teams in consolidation of peace and human rights»; as co-sponsor on such UN resolutions as «The full enjoyment of human rights by all women and girls and the systematic mainstreaming of a gender perspective into the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development» and «World Programme for Human Rights Education»; as well as supported the Joint Statement «On the promotion of SDGs and human rights through efficient, transparent and accountable public service delivery» initiated by the Azerbaijan side.

The active position of Turkmenistan in the field of the protection of human rights is a clear evidence of the commitment of the Turkmen side in undertaking practical measures on the implementation and compliance with its obligations stemming from international humanitarian law.
