TURKMEN-JAPANESE POLITICAL CONSULTATIONS

On November 23, 2015 the political consultations between Turkmenistan and Japan were held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan in Ashgabat.
The delegation of the Japanese side was headed by the Special Representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, Mr. Toshihiro Aiki.
During the consultations, the constructive dialogue took place including in the agenda a wide range of issues of bilateral and regional cooperation between Turkmenistan and Japan.
The parties noted a positive experience of bilateral and regional cooperation within the framework of the dialogue "Central Asia + Japan". The sides intend to further develop cooperation in the framework of this format.
The sides also exchanged views on regional issues of mutual interest. Concerning the development of political cooperation the parties noted the importance and relevance of the consolidation of joint efforts in this direction. In this context the sides marked the good results of the visits at the highest levels, which in turn intensified cooperation in various areas.
The parties expressed their commitment to further development of cooperation within international organizations. In this context the sides noted the mutual commitment to the principle of peaceful settlement of international conflicts by using political and diplomatic means. There was also a concern of the parties in the consolidation of efforts in the fight against terrorism.
Speaking about the trade and economic relations, the parties noted the high level of the joint work. 
Among the areas of joint cooperation of mutual interest, it was also marked cultural and humanitarian spheres, in particular, cooperation in the fields of education and sports by means of sharing experience.
