Modernization of energy system of the country aims at the growth of export potential of the branch
Two 263.5 MWt gas turbine are to be commissioned this year at Mary State Power Plant. The construction of 1647 MWt combined power station is ongoing there ahead of the schedule. The station includes four gas turbine, four utilization vessels and two steam turbine. According to the contract, new power installation will be commissioned until December 2018. Currently, preparation works for commissioning of the first production train are carried out.
Personnel of energy branch plan to convert Dashoguz State Power Plant and gas turbine power station in Darvaza etrap of Ahal Velayat to combined production cycle as this technology, which is implemented for the first time in Turkmenistan, will provide rational use of natural gas during power production and will allow reducing the emission.
The construction of the largest energy hub at Mary State Power Station is implemented under the Concept of the Development of Energy Branch in Turkmenistan for 2013 – 2020 approved by the President.
Six out of fourteen gas turbine power station were put into operation since the beginning of the programme. Specialists of the branch plan to start energy facilities of 3854 MWt of total power output throughout the country by 2020. Thus, projected level of energy production in Turkmenistan will reach 26 billion 380 million KW/hours by 2020 and amount of export will increase several times.
Last year, 254 MW gas turbine power station was opened in Lebap Velayat. New facility, meeting the world standards, produce around 6 million KW hours of energy per day what allows covering the needs of Lebap Velayat and delivering the excess to energy system of the country as well as increasing the export to the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan.
At present time, 500 KW Atamyrat substation is put into operation for improvement of powr supply of Lebap Velayat and increase of export volumes. Reconstruction of 220 KW Watan and Farab substations has been successfully carried out. Construction of 500 KW air power line was accomplished from distribution unit of Mary State Power Station to Atamyrat Substation. Similar 500 KW power line was laid from Atamyrat substation to the border with the Inslamic Republic of Afghanistan.
Reconstruction of open 500 KW distribution unit was made at the state power station in Mary Velayat.
18 360 611 000 KW/hours have been produced for nine months of the year in the country. This indicator exceeds the plan for 103.2 percent. The export of energy made 2 870 835 000 KW/hours from the beginning of the year.
It is planned to continue the construction of high-voltage air power lines and substations. It is also projected to unite energy hubs of the country vial air lines in the nearest future. Energy circle including the directions Ashgabat - Balkanabat – Turkmenbashy, Mary - Ashgabat, Lebap – Dashoguz, Ashgabat – Dashoguz, Turkmenbashy – Dashoguz will be made and that will allow optimizing the operation of energy system of the country.
Besides, organization works for construction of 400 – 500 KW air power line Mary – Serakhs – Meshed (Iran) are carried out for increase of the export of Turkmen energy as well as construction of high-voltage air line Balkanabat - Gonbad (Iran) is planned. The construction of these energy bridges will provide the export of energy to Iran and Turkey by transit via Iranian energy system. At the moment, the construction of high-voltage electrical line toward TAPI gas line is carried out for supply of power to the Islamic Republic of Iran.
