Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan will develop the concept of the co-chairmanship of Turkmenistan in the CIS in 2018. This was stated by the deputy Prime Minister, Head of the MFA of Turkmenistan R. Meredov at the meeting of the government.
At the meeting it was noted that at the CIS Summit in Sochi the decision on the co-chairmanship of Turkmenistan in the Commonwealth in 2018 was adopted. According to Meredov, speaking at the next CIS Summit, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov voiced concrete proposals on the further development of constructive partnership in the format of the Commonwealth.
In this context, it was stressed that the initiative of the Head of the state on improving political and diplomatic cooperation in the Commonwealth space and the preparation of a medium-term Program aimed at intensifying partnership in this area was fully supported by the CIS member states.
Having heard the report, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov stressed that Turkmenistan is committed to close and effective partnership with regional and international organizations and structures, including the CIS.
"Our country is developing a traditional wide interaction with the Commonwealth states, with the peoples of which the Turkmen people are linked by historically established ties of friendship and good-neighborliness," the Turkmen leader said.
