THE EIGHTH MEETING OF THE MINISTERS OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS WAS HELD IN THE FORMAT "CENTRAL ASIA - JAPAN"

On April 15, 2022, the eighth meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Dialogue "Central Asia + Japan" was held in the format of a videoconference. From the Turkmen side, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan V. Hajyiev attended the meeting.

During the meeting, the parties discussed topical issues of cooperation between the countries of Central Asia and Japan in the political, trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian spheres. The meeting participants considered key aspects of the international agenda and issues of regional security and stability.

Speaking at the meeting, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan V. Hajyiev noted the prospects for further cooperation between the Central Asian countries and Japan in general, and within the framework of the “Central Asia + Japan” Dialogue. In particular, he emphasized the digitalization of the economies of the countries of the region as a promising topic.

He also noted the need to combine the efforts and resources of all states of the region and the world in the fight against the pandemic and in overcoming its negative socio-economic consequences. In this context, the importance of exchanging experience on a regular basis between medical scientists and representatives of other specialized specialties was noted.

In addition, issues of strengthening border security, ensuring regional stability and creating conditions for successful economic cooperation in Central Asia were discussed. The role of the international community in normalizing the intra-Afghan situation was noted, and, first of all, the region of Central Asian countries and Afghanistan's neighbors is very important in this regard.

The Turkmen side expressed confidence in the further strengthening of cooperation in all areas within the framework of the Dialogue "Central Asia + Japan".
