THE PRESIDENT OF TURKMENISTAN RECEIVED THE CHAIRMAN OF THE FEDERATION COUNCIL OF THE FEDERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION
On May 12, 2022, the President of Turkmenistan received the Chairman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko, who arrived in Turkmenistan at the head of the delegation of her country to participate in the Inter-Parliamentary Forum of the States of Central Asia and the Russian Federation and in the plenary session of the Women's Dialogue.
Expressing gratitude for the warm welcome, the guest conveyed to the Head of state congratulations on the occasion of holding such significant representative meetings and best wishes from the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin and the Prime Minister of Russia Mikhail Mishustin, who confirmed the unchanging commitment of the Russian side to traditional relations of friendship and fruitful cooperation with Turkmenistan.
Thanking for the kind words and conveying best wishes in return to the top leadership of the Russian Federation, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted with satisfaction the special nature of relations with Russia, which has always been and will be one of the strategic partners of our country.
During the meeting, an exchange of views took place on the current state and prospects of bilateral cooperation, including in the political, trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian fields. Particular emphasis was placed on the significance of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, which is being celebrated this year. This event marked a new stage in the history of Turkmen-Russian relations, largely ensuring their constructive, respectful and equal nature.
At the end of the meeting, once again exchanging good wishes, Head of State Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Chairman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko expressed their firm confidence that the high level of mutual understanding and trust between Turkmenistan and the Russian Federation would continue to serve as a solid foundation for building up bilateral partnership, which meets the long-term interests of both peoples, united by a common age-old historical and cultural ties.
