In the framework of the World Environment Day celebrated on

It was mentioned as an example that on 01 December 2023, at the 28th Conference of Contracting Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change in Dubai, the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov announced the accession of the country to the Global Methane Platform. The country continues to develop the necessary legal framework to incentivize the introduction of low-carbon technologies. Turkmenistan continues to cooperate with international organizations and partner countries for practical implementation of the conditions arising from the Global Methane Platform.

It was also noted that during the visit of the President of Turkmenistan to the cities of Osaka and Tokyo on 13-15 April 2025, high level meetings were held where the parties supported efforts to cooperate on energy transition and signed relevant documents to achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Among other documents, a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan and Chuo University on cooperation using the Greenhouse Gas Observation Satellite (GOSAT) series was signed during the visit of the President of Turkmenistan.

The representatives of the Ministry of Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan participated in the International Conference on Assessment of Greenhouse Gas Emissions from the GOSAT satellite held in Tokyo, Japan, on 3-4 February 2025.
