A TELEPHONE CONVERSATION WAS HELD BETWEEN THE PRESIDENT OF TURKMENISTAN AND THE PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF UZBEKISTAN

On January 20, 2022, a telephone conversation took place between President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

Having warmly greeted each other, the leaders of the two countries noted with satisfaction the high level and progressive dynamics of the development of traditionally friendly interstate relations, which are a true example of trust, mutual understanding and respect.

As the leader of the nation emphasized, Turkmenistan pays great attention to strengthening and expanding fruitful cooperation with Uzbekistan, which, relying on mutual goodwill, is gaining deeper content every day. A significant role in this is played by regular contacts at the highest and high levels.

Taking the opportunity, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov thanked President Shavkat Mirziyoyev for the warm welcome and hospitality extended to the government delegation of Turkmenistan headed by Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Serdar Berdimuhamedov, who recently paid a working visit to the Republic of Uzbekistan.

In continuation of the telephone conversation, the heads of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan exchanged views on key issues of bilateral partnership, built on the age-old principles of good neighborliness, taking into account modern realities and the situation in the region and the world. As emphasized, the effectiveness of the Turkmen-Uzbek dialogue is due to the common interests and the presence of a strong political will to deepen cooperation in every possible way in all its areas.

In this context, it was also noted that Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan are distinguished by the similarity or coincidence of approaches to current international and regional problems, which is an important prerequisite for joining efforts to ensure sustainable development and stability in the region. Pursuing a peaceful foreign policy, our countries play a special role in maintaining peace and harmony in Central Asia, which is of great importance in the light of the rapidly changing situation in the region and beyond.

It was emphasized that the accumulated rich long-term experience and good traditions of the Turkmen-Uzbek partnership are now being enriched in accordance with the new realities and objective needs of the development of the two states. At the same time, the parties reaffirmed their determination to continue to take all the necessary steps to implement successfully the existing huge potential for mutually beneficial cooperation.

At the end of the telephone conversation, expressing confidence that invariably friendly, good-neighbourly interstate relations would continue to expand and deepen for the common good, the heads of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan wished each other health and success, and well-being and prosperity to the brotherly peoples of the two countries.
