From span bond to melt blown: production of required nonwoven materials in Turkmenistan

Тürkmen senet business entity was the first in the country to start the production of nonwoven material of new generation – the span bond. Entrepreneurs has opened the plant with production output of 2,500 tons of product per year in industrial zone of Ak Bugday etrap. Polypropylene produced in the country is used as a feedstock. It allows receiving the tightest distribution of fibers in canvas, which are connected to each other by special spin method without weaving.

- The nature of spin method is in the formation of synthetic threads or fibres from the polymer melts with simultaneous placing them into canvas, - Chief engineer Sohbet Hojayev. First, melting and filtration of polymer, after, the process of formation of fibres occurred. The spinner is a metal plate made of heat-resistant steel with holes, through which melted polymer is pushed forming thinnest threads. Different bonding methods are used while making canvas. In our case, this is thermal bonding.

This method allows receiving material that has high density, strength, flexibility and hygroscopic features.

The production of the facility was recognized by specialists. The General State Service Turkmenstandartlary issued certificate of compliance to the business entity. Тürkmen senet business entity was awarded with the third grade diploma at the exhibition of achievements of private producers.

The equipment for production of nonwoven material, formation of rolls was bought from China. The span bond of various density as well as width and colour is sold in rolls.

- Use of span bond is defined by its high operational features, - Baba Orabiyzov, the General Director of Тürkmen senet business entity explains. – Nonwoven fabrics is used for making of medical clothes, surgical surfaces, bedding and many other. It is used for production of agricultural textile and insulation materials, as packing material, for production of holsters, bags, etc. as well as for women and children hygiene materials, disposable suits for medical facilities and beauty salons.

This March, business entity has made more than 100 tons of synthetic material in test mode and continues increasing production rates. At present time, the facility working in two shifts. Saglyk pharmaceutical enterprise is the main customer of new product. It produces disposable medical gowns, masks, overshoes and other profile products from the span bond.

Soon, entrepreneurs plan to develop production of melt blown – the material, which consists of 0,01 - 0,2 dtex polypropylene fibres and has high absorption capacity. Melt blown layer in composite nonwoven material increases their anti-bacterial features comparing with the sun bond by 7-10 times, which is very important for medical purposes. It is also used in three-layered disposable headrests in aircrafts and trains, disposable bed sets.

Entrepreneurs are going to arrange production of wide variety of items from nonwoven materials. The facility prepares sewing workshop where disposable clothes, holsters, bags, packing material and other production will be made. In the future, it is planned to open similar facilities in Ashgabat and velayat centres.
