PRESIDENT OF TURKMENISTAN TOOK PART IN THE OPENING CEREMONY OF THE WINTER OLYMPIC GAMES IN BEIJING

As already was reported, on February 4, 2022, the delegation of Turkmenistan headed by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, at the invitation of the President of the People's Republic of China, arrived to Beijing.

As part of the visit, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov took part in a grand show on the occasion of the opening of the XXIV Winter Olympic Games in Beijing.

The participation of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov in the opening ceremony of the XXIV Winter Olympic Games in Beijing has become another confirmation of the proactive position of Turkmenistan in matters of fruitful international cooperation in the field of sports, the intention of our country to continue to make an effective contribution to the development of the world Olympic movement based on universal humanistic values.

On February 5, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov met with President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping in the capital of China.

The Chinese side expressed its gratitude to the leadership of Turkmenistan for accepting the invitation and participating in the opening ceremony of the XXIV Winter Olympic Games in Beijing.

The head of Turkmenistan, congratulating the leadership of China on the successful start of the Olympics, stressed that China once again demonstrated to the whole world its capabilities and ability, even in such difficult conditions, to organize such a major sporting event at a high level.

The conversation between the Heads of Turkmenistan and China covered the entire spectrum of relations, which are distinguished by a strategic nature and a rich bilateral agenda.

As noted during the constructive conversation between the Heads of the two friendly countries, the visit of the President of Turkmenistan to Beijing is intended to be another effective step towards building mutually beneficial bilateral cooperation, which in recent years has acquired a new quality and content.

The leader of Turkmenistan, expressing satisfaction with the dynamics of development of our relations both at the bilateral and multilateral levels, noted that over the past 30 years, through joint efforts, the parties were able to bring bilateral relations to the level of strategic partnership in the political, trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian spheres.

The parties also expressed the need to further intensify partnership in such promising areas as the gas sector, trade, transport, modern telecommunications technologies, digital economy, cosmonautics and others.

At the end of the visit, the motorcade of the President of Turkmenistan went to Beijing International airport from where the Head of state flew home.
