Issues of developing tourism cooperation between Turkmenistan and the Japan Association of Travel Agents (JATA) discussed

On 04 August 2026, Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Japan Mr. A.Bayramov held a meeting with the newly elected Chairman of the Japan Association of Travel Agents (JATA) Mr. Y. Hara.

During the meeting, Mr. Hara was congratulated on his election as Chairman of JATA and the parties discussed ways to further strengthen cooperation between Turkmenistan and Japan in the field of tourism.

The sides noted that cooperation between Turkmenistan and JATA began with Turkmenistan’s participation in “JATA Travel Showcase 2013” international tourism exhibition and has continued to develop steadily in recent years. In this regard, the conference entitled “Tourism potential of Turkmenistan”, held in Tokyo in 2014, as well as the international conference “Turkmenistan – the Land of Friendship, Brotherhood and Hospitality”, organized within the framework of EXPO 2025 Osaka in 2025, were highlighted as successful examples of bilateral cooperation.

Particular attention was paid to promoting the establishment of direct air links between the two countries, as well as expanding cooperation between the relevant government institutions and tourism companies of Turkmenistan and Japan.
