10TH MEETING OF SO DIALOGUE “CENTRAL ASIA + JAPAN» HELD IN ASHGABAT

   On November 24, 2015 the 10th meeting of Senior Officials Dialogue “Central Asia + Japan” held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. The meeting was attended by the delegations from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Japan on the level of Deputy Foreign Ministers and senior diplomats.
   Welcoming remarks were made by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan as well as by heads of delegations from Central Asia and the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan.
    Within the framework of the meeting, heads of the delegations reaffirmed the importance of the search by the Central Asian countries the ways of joint solving of the problems and promoting cooperation to ensure stability and economic prosperity of the nations. The parties expressed their commitment to development of constructive and equitable regional cooperation with Japan in various directions. In this context, the sides stressed the role of the visit of the Prime Minister Sindzo Abe to the countries of Central Asia as an important factor for active interaction.
   The Turkmen side, as chairman of the tenth meeting of the Senior Officials Dialogue “Central Asia+Japan” among the priority areas of cooperation, suggested to review the issues of transit transport infrastructure in regional and continental scales.
    During the discussion of joint projects proposed for implementation in the framework of the dialogue “Central Asia+Japan”, they discussed issues of cooperation in agriculture, transport and logistics. 
   The participants of the meeting also discussed the issues of preparation for the next meeting of senior officials to be held in Tokyo in 2016 and for the 6th meeting at the level of Ministers of Foreign Affairs, summed up the results of the implementation of key provisions of the joint action plan, specified the presidency of the events carried out within the framework of the Dialogue, identified new areas of regional cooperation.
