President of Turkmenistan congratulates Governor-General of New Zealand on Waitangi Day

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov sent heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to Governor-General of New Zealand Cindy Kiro on the occasion of the National Holiday – Waitangi Day.

Serdar Berdimuhamedov expressed sincere wishes for good health, happiness and well-being to Cindy Kiro, and peace, further progress and prosperity to all the people of New Zealand.

The Treaty of Waitangi was concluded on February 6, 1840 between 540 Maori chiefs and the British Crown. Its main provisions concerned the sovereignty of New Zealand and the rights and freedoms of the Maori.
