The delegation of Turkmenistan took part in the International Conference on Water and Disaster for Cooperation and Partnership
On March 5, 2025, the International Symposium on Water and Disaster for Cooperation and Partnership was held in Tokyo. The session was attended by high-level representatives of government agencies, international organizations, private companies and civil society.
The delegation of Turkmenistan included representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Turkmen State Water Management scientific-production and Project Institute “Türkmensuwylymtaslama”.
The Emperor of Japan Naruhito took part in the opening of the event.
In the second half of the day, a meeting of water sector experts was held within the framework of the Dialogue “Central Asia + Japan”.
In their speeches, representatives of Turkmenistan informed about the initiatives of the President of Turkmenistan in the field of protection and rational use of water resources, voiced from high tribunes of international forums. In particular, the importance of water resources in the context of achieving sustainable development in Central Asia was emphasized.
As noted, transboundary water cooperation is one of the key areas in ensuring peace, stability and prosperity in the region.
The water subject has become even more relevant in view of the global climate change, in connection with which the need for careful and rational use of water resources was emphasized.
