TAPI Board Committee discusses key objectives of project realization
Regular 25th session of the Board Committee of Turkmenistan – Afghanistan – Pakistan – India gas line project with the participation of high-rank officials and representative of profile ministers and departments of participating countries as well as Asian Development Bank took place in Administration centre of Mary Velayat.
The agenda included key subjects of further practical realization of this grandiose project. Particularly, the project was decided to be divided in phases and the schedule of their completion was adopted.
Besides, the participants of the session paid special attention to financial advisor selection, opportunities of attraction of external investments as well as discussed legal status of the agreements with the governments of receiving countries (Afghanistan and Pakistan), which are planned to be signed.
Report on the work performed by «TAPI Pipeline Company Limited» chaired by the State Concern Turkmengaz was listened to during the meeting.
The participants also agreed and took decision on important issues related to legal and technical aspects.
As is known the construction of this pipeline was started in December 2015 in Mary Velayat. The importance of the events was highlighted by the participation of the President of Turkmenistan, the President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, the Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and the Vice President of the Republic of India.
Economic feasibility of this project is confirmed by grandiose natural gas reserves in Turkmenistan fields, which was proven by competent international experts. This allows our state guaranteed provision of long-term supplies of gas to any direction including TAPI.
The participants confirmed keen interest of their countries in soonest realization of this pipeline and in supply of Turkmen gas. They also discussed number of other matters related to the agreements aimed at the activation of joint work, which was reached earlier.
The participants of the session of the Board Committee mentioned the importance of the progress achieved in TAPI project, having highlighted constructive efforts of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov aimed at the acceleration of the realization of this grandiose affair and expressed the support of international initiatives of Turkmen leader for formation of actual mechanism under the UN aegis, which is able to provide the security of the transit of energy resources.
