Meeting were held with the Secretary of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Philippines

On the same day, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and Secretary of Foreign Affairs of the Philippines Enrique Manalo discussed topical issues of bilateral and multilateral cooperation. The sides expressed mutual interest in further strengthening relations and expanding partnership in various spheres.

Particular attention was paid to the intensification of political dialogue. The importance of holding regular political consultations at the level of deputy foreign ministers was emphasised. Possibilities to step up co-operation in economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres were considered.

One of the main issues discussed at the meeting was the initiative of the Turkmen side to create a new format of interaction between the countries of Central Asia and ASEAN. Turkmenistan proposed to develop a mechanism of dialogue ‘Central Asia - ASEAN’, which would make it possible to expand cooperation in trade and economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres.
