Customs services of Turkmenistan and Japan strengthen cooperation
An online training session was held at the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan to study Japan's experience in the implementation of the Authorized Economic Operators (AEO) program.
Specialists of the Customs and Tariffs Bureau of the Ministry of Finance of Japan introduced the features of implementation of the AEO program to Turkmen colleagues. The Authorized Economic Operator program is an internationally recognized standard of partnership programs. Authorized Economic Operator is a subject of international trade, which are granted simplifications in carrying out customs operations and customs control as persons who meet certain requirements. They operate in accordance with World Customs Organization standards and principles that secure the supply chain of goods.
The seminar provided a platform to discuss possible cooperation between the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan and the Customs and Tariffs Bureau of the Ministry of Finance of Japan in the area of AEO, including participation in the mutual recognition agreements. The Japanese side expressed its willingness to share experience in other areas of customs affairs as well.
