The President of Turkmenistan received a Special Adviser to the Prime Minister of Japan

Today, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov received Mr. Akihisa Nagashima, Special Advisor to the Prime Minister of Japan.

Expressing gratitude to the Head of State for the time devoted to the meeting, Mr Akihisa Nagashima noted that Turkmenistan's achievements in all spheres are highly appreciated in his country and took the opportunity to convey greetings and best wishes from Emperor Naruhito of Japan and Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba.

Warmly welcoming the guest, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov extended best wishes to Emperor Naruhito and Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba. The Head of State expressed confidence that the meetings to be held during Mr Akihisa Nagashima's visit would provide an opportunity to discuss the current state and prospects of bilateral cooperation, and their results would contribute to enriching Turkmen-Japanese relations with new content.

As it was noted during the meeting, Turkmenistan pays special attention to the comprehensive enhancement of interaction with Japan in the Asia-Pacific region. Interstate cooperation is of a long-term, strategic nature and is actively developing and improving on the principles of equality, mutual respect and trust.

Our countries are successfully co-operating not only bilaterally but also multilaterally. In this regard, the importance of the Central Asia + Japan Dialogue was particularly stressed.

Noting that this format is a platform for the development of both bilateral and regional cooperation in various spheres, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov wished a successful holding of the first Summit of the Heads of State of the Central Asia + Japan Dialogue.

As it was emphasised, Turkmen-Japanese relations currently cover political and diplomatic, trade and economic, social, cultural, humanitarian and other spheres. The Turkmen-Japanese Committee on Economic Cooperation plays an important role in their development.

- As is known, Japan will host the World Exhibition EXPO 2025 in April this year. Turkmenistan also voted in favour of holding it in the friendly country. Having shown great interest in participating in the World Expo, we have established a special Organising Committee and are currently carrying out relevant preparatory activities,’ President Serdar Berdimuhamedov said. Taking this opportunity, the Head of State wished EXPO 2025 a success.

In this regard, Mr Akihisa Nagashima said that a high-level delegation from Turkmenistan is expected to participate in the World Expo in Japan.

At the end of the meeting, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov reaffirmed our country's readiness to further develop Turkmen-Japanese cooperation, fill it with new content and wished Akihisa Nagashima, Special Advisor to the Prime Minister of Japan, good health and success in his work.
