President of Turkmenistan had a meeting with the President of the Portuguese Republic

During his working visit to the United States of America, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov met with the President of the Portuguese Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa.

After warmly greeting each other, the two leaders expressed confidence that the current meeting would help identify promising areas of bilateral cooperation and further develop it.

As noted, Turkmenistan and the Portuguese Republic enjoy friendly relations based on the principles of equality and mutual respect. In this regard, the two leaders acknowledged that both countries currently have great potential for developing and strengthening this cooperation.

As noted, Turkmenistan and Portugal regularly support each other's constructive international initiatives and co-sponsor them within the United Nations.

In this context, noting that, at Turkmenistan's initiative and in accordance with the UN General Assembly Resolution, 2025 has been declared the "International Year of Peace and Trust," an event that coincides with the glorious 30th anniversary of the country's permanent neutrality, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov invited President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa to participate in the International Forum, which will be held on December 12 in Ashgabat.

Thanking for the invitation, the President of the Portuguese Republic noted that Turkmenistan's peacekeeping foreign policy, based on positive neutrality, enjoys broad support worldwide and strengthens the country's international standing as a responsible participant in global dialogue.

Concluding the meeting, expressing confidence that fruitful interstate relations will continue to develop for the benefit of the peoples of the two countries, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov of Turkmenistan and President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa of the Portuguese Republic wished each other good health and success in their responsible public duties.
