The Ambassador of Japan in Turkmenistan noted that there are very high-level relations between Tokyo and Ashgabat

During 2025 year between the Esteemed President of Turkmenistan H.E. Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the Emperor of Japan Naruhito held two meetings are the symbol of very high-level relations between these countries. About this the Ambassador of Japan in Turkmenistan at the ceremonial reception held on the occasion of the Emperor’s birthday in his speech said.

According to the diplomat’s noting, in 2025 during the two visits carried out to Japan by the Esteemed President of Turkmenistan, the head of state also met with His Majesty the Emperor. “Within one year a foreign leader meeting with the Emperor two times is a very rare situation. This also clearly testifies that between Japan and Turkmenistan there are very high-level relations” – saying, the Ambassador continued his speech in the Turkmen language.

As Sasaki Hiroshi’s noting, year 2025 became the year when the Esteemed President of Turkmenistan went to Japan two times with a visit: in April to the opening of Turkmenistan’s national pavilion at the Expo 2025 exhibition held in Osaka and in December to the Summit of the “Central Asia + Japan” Dialogue. According to the Ambassador’s words, during the year in developing bilateral relations, including implementing large economic projects, great successes were achieved.

Also, the Embassy of Japan in 2026 compared with last year plans to further expand its work. These plans relate to developing the business activity of Japanese companies, supporting the learning of the Japanese language and expanding cultural exchanges – the diplomat noted.

Emperor Naruhito on 23 February turns 66 years old.
