The UN General Assembly adopts the Resolution initiated by the President of Turkmenistan

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held video conference session with participation of the Chairperson of the Mejlis and Deputy Chairmen of the Cabinet of Ministers dedicated to remarkable events for our country. Thus, the UN General Assembly adopted an important document – the Resolution on declaration of 2021 as International Year of Peace and Trust, which was initiated by the President of Turkmenistan.

Opening video conference session, the Head of the State informed that good news came from the Headquarter of the United Nations in New York, which became another bright evidence of high international authority of our independent neutral state and recognition of constructive initiatives proposed by our country. in this regard, the President gave floor to Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Foreign Minister R. Meredov.

The Vice-premier, the Head of Foreign Ministry reported that all UN members have unanimously adopted the Resolution “2021 International Year of Peace and Trust” initiated by the President of Turkmenistan at the 106th plenary meeting of the 73rd session of the United Nation General Assembly.

At the same time, it was mentioned that as is known, the first Caspian Economic Forum has been held successfully in Avaza National tourist zone on August 11 – 12 by the initiative of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

Outcomes of the CEF and important events under its frame were reflected in the Final Statement of the Caspian Economic Forum, which was adopted as the document of the 73rd session of the United Nations General Assembly and published in the UN official languages on September 9, 2019.

Having congratulated the President of Turkmenistan on this remarkable events, the Vice-premier, the Head of Foreign Minister, wished new outstanding achievements in his noble activity to the Head of the State.

Having listened to the information with satisfaction, Turkmen leader addressed the compatriots with speech.

Head of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov highlighted that provision of high level of security and stability in the region and around the world is one of the main goals of foreign policy.

International initiatives for practical implementation of neutral status of the country, protection of peace and improvement of culture of mutual trust between different states made by Turkmen side under the United Nations have special importance in this direction.

Continuing the subject, the President noted that such primordial features and traditions of Turkmen nation as friendliness, peace-loving and humanity are the foundations of foreign course of Turkmenistan, which is based on the principles of positive neutrality.

The strategy of our country on expansion of international cooperation and search for positive solutions of the issues of universal progress is highly supported by the world community.

Therefore, we are able to see dynamic advancement of the year “Turkmenistan – Home of Prosperity” on example of success of our state in foreign policy.

In this context, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has focused on the fact that two good news came from the United Nations Headquarter recently.

The first one is that the Resolution on declaration of 2021 as International Year of Peace and Trust initiated by Turkmenistan has been adopted by all state members at the 106th meeting of the 73rd session of the United Nations General Assembly.

Having noted that 73 world countries were the co-authors of the Resolution, the Head of the State expressed the gratitude to the leaders of all states, which made their contribution in adoption of this important document.

In addition, the Final document of the first Caspian Economic Forum, which was held in Avaza National tourist zone on August 11 – 12, 2019, was adopted as the document of the 73rd session of the UN General Assembly and published in official languages of this international Organizations, the Head of Turkmenistan stated.

Having congratulated all compatriots on these remarkable events, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov highlighted that the above-mentioned documents, which were adopted by initiative of our country, are bright evidence of comprehensive support of foreign course of neutral Turkmenistan, which is implemented for provision of universal peace, security and sustainable development, by the world community.

At present time, pursuing ‘open doors’ policy, our sovereign country has peaceful, friendly and beneficial relations with neighbouring countries and different states of the world in political, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres.

Therefore, the Head of the State noted, Turkmenistan confidently promotes humanitarian and political initiatives of historical significance in the context of protection of peace on the planet, environmental protection, provision of economic, energy and food safety, efficient combat against global threats in the world arena under complicated modern conditions.

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov made special mention that following neutral legal status and international obligations, our state supports the solution of all issues by political and diplomatic methods, mainly through the United Nations Organizations and other competent organizations.

Turkmenistan proves in practice that principles of neutrality, peace-loving and goodwill have always been and remain to be the basis of its foreign policy, the President of the country said.

The Head of the state cordially congratulated everybody on adoption and publication of these documents, which were initiated by our country, at the 73rd session of the UN General Assembly.

It was highlighted that neutral Turkmenistan would continue putting all efforts for strengthening of peace, friendship, brotherhood on the planet of prosperous and happy life of all humanity.

In the end, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov congratulated again the compatriots on this important events, which happened on the threshold of the celebration of the country’s independence.
