Turkmen kurash team aims at gold of the Ashgabat 2017 Games

Athletes of the country’s national kurash team undergo the final training session in one of the most picturesque places in Turkmenistan - Goekdere resort as part of preparation for the Games “Ashgabat 2017”, during which the best wrestlers will be determined.

Athletes are prepared for the competitions by head coach of kurash team, Honored Trainer of Uzbekistan and World Champion Olimdzhon Khaitov. Having started under his instructions intensive trainings in April of current year, the Turkmen kurash wrestlers have been perfecting their technique and developing unique combat tactics. The coach pays special attention to the development of moral and strong-willed qualities in athletes.

According to sports commentators, the main opponents of our men’s team, composed of 14 young wrestlers, will be athletes from Uzbekistan, Iran and Tajikistan. Athletes of the women’s national team of 16 girls are to have very hard fights with wrestlers from Uzbekistan, Thailand, Taipei and Mongolia.

Murad Kurbanov, the senior coach of Turkmenistan kurash team particularly singled out three kurash wrestlers,who became the backbone of the team. They are silver medalists of the previous Asian Games in Incheon Muhammet Temirov (73 kg), Serdar Jumiyev (81 kg) and Ayna Jumakuliyeva (57 kg).

Among the youngest members of our team are senior school pupils Gozel Karimbayeva (78 kg) and Yulduz Adizova (87 kg) of Lebap, as well as Anna Dmitriyeva (87 kg) from the city of Mary. Yulduz is the judo and kurash champion of Turkmenistan, and Anna is the vice-champion of the country in these sports.
