Rational water use in the region discussed in format of video conference
78th session of Interstate Coordination Water Management Committee of International Fund for Saving of Aral Sea with participation of the heads and specialists of profile ministries and departments of Central Asian states including the State Water Management Committee of Turkmenistan was held in video conference format.
Implementation of measures aimed at improvement of ecological, water management, social and economic situation in the basin of Aral Sea according to the adopted Joint Statement by the outcomes of the Summit of the heads of the state founders of the IFAS, which was held in August 2018 in Avaza National tourist zone, is among reviewed subjects.
In this context, importance of initiatives of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov proposed at the 73rd session of the UN General Assembly, VII World Water Summit in Tegu (The Republic of Korea) has been noted. Necessity of development of conditions for establishment of efficient international cooperation based on international law with participation of competent organizations and taking into account interests of the states have been highlighted in proposals of Turkmen leader. Common access to water resources, their rational use in agricultural needs are related to development of the economy and social wealth of the countries in the region.
From its side, Turkmenistan comprehensively supports the expansion of productive cooperation in solution such important issues as improvement of social and ecological situation, rational water use, adaptation to the climate changes.
Results of water sampling for vegetation period of the last year, their limits in 2020 and forecasted mode of work of cascades of water reserves of the main rivers of the region have been reviewed at the session.
Protocol has been adopted by the outcomes of the IFAS Interstate Coordination Water Management Commission.
