TURKMENISTAN ATTENDS ESCAP ASIA-PACIFIC FORUM ON SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

On May 20, 2020, the Seventh Asia-Pacific Forum on Sustainable Development was held in videoconference format in Bangkok.

This forum, organized under the auspices of the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), brought together a significant number of officials, experts and specialists from Member States and other members of the organization.

At the forum, the Turkmen delegation was headed by the Minister of Finance and Economics of Turkmenistan.

During the online session, its participants focused on such important elements of the SDGs as improving well-being and empowering people, transition to a sustainable and equitable economy, creating sustainable food systems and healthy eating patterns, achieving decarbonization of energy and ensuring universal access to energy supply, promoting sustainable development of urban and suburban areas, also the protection of the global environmental commons.

Participants also expressed their support for a regional dialogue on accelerating the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in the Asia-Pacific region by identifying key response measures at the national and regional levels.
