PRESENTATION IN A VIDEOCONFERENCE FORMAT ON RECOMMENDATIONS RELATED TO THE TRANSFORMATION OF THE COUNTRY'S PRINT MEDIA
On June 2, 2020, a two-day discussion in the format of a video conference on recommendations related to the transformation of the print media of Turkmenistan began its work at the Yildiz Hotel. The presentation was organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and OSCE Center in Ashgabat as part of the project “Supporting the implementation of media reforms and improving media laws”.
The event is attended by leaders and representatives of the OSCE, representatives of several ministries and departments responsible for working with the media, teachers of the journalism department of higher educational institutions, journalists and representatives of the print media of Turkmenistan, as well as international experts as moderators.
At the opening of the presentation, the head of the OSCE Center in Ashgabat, Ms. Natalya Drozd, noted the relevance and importance of this presentation in terms of transition to a digital development system in Turkmenistan, including the creation of new and improvement of existing government websites. The diplomat also emphasized that the purpose of this event is to determine values and standards in information and news activities, to increase skills in working in online media.
During the event, international experts in their speeches told the participants about new types of digital systems, the transition of newspapers to digital space, restructuring of editorial offices, staff training, digital subscription and general approaches to monetizing newspaper sites, as well as the role of the press service in the digital era, online tools public awareness, especially the communication strategies of government bodies.
The presentation will continue its work on June 3, 2020.
