Digital transformation in oil production: Integrated effect

Digital technologies introduced at the facilities of the State Concern Türkmennebit increased management efficiency of exploration, development of fields and production of oil.

- This process has started several years ago from the installation of eight digital systems for measuring the quantity and quality of commercial oil. At present time, digitization has covered all segments of activity of the Concern, having become a platform for technological and production diversification, competitive advantage, - Vepa Kuliyev, the Head of Communication and Automation Department notes.

Specialists of department have connected all structural divisions of the State Concern in Balkanabat to Uzboy, Burun and Barsagelmes fields, which are under development, for provision of reliability and efficiency of production.

Digital transformation has optimized the process of obtaining of telemetric data and video monitoring of drilling installations located 100 and more kilometres away. It gave the opportunity to respond quickly to any changes of mode, to register failure of equipment, to send geological and technological information to geoscientists in the Central Office of the State Concern Türkmennebit.

Work for automation of oil production control systems at the wells equipped with sucker rod pumping units (SRP) is carried out at production facilities. Introduction of software and hardware systems for control of such wells will increase the efficiency of old oil deposits.

Well automation will allow simplifying collection and analysis of data as well as remote monitoring. 550 production wells will be transferred to distant control mode at the first stage of modernization.

Specialists of the Concern has entered into agreement with engineering company “Automation – Metrology – Expert” (Ufa, Russian Federation) for supply of 50 sets of multiphase level gauges UMF300 for installation in tank farm of Türkmennebit State Concern. This digital equipment is efficient technological instrument, which allows receiving qualitative and quantitative indicators and determining oil/water interphase level.

Specialists of SC Türkmennebit note that digital projects, which are aimed at improvement of efficiency of all links of production and processing of oil and well as minimization of work time for receiving first oil from the deposits, are implemented at present time.
