Trends of economic development of Turkmenistan are discussed during the meeting with IMF
Another round of consultations took place between the International Monetary Fund (IMF) mission led by Ms. Natalia Tamirisa and the heads of the Central Bank of Turkmenistan, the Ministry of Finance and Economy and the State Committee on Statistics.
The trends of economic development of Turkmenistan, the results of the first half of 2020, as well as the updated indicators for the execution of the 2020 State Budget and the draft budget for 2021 were analyzed during the videoconference meeting.
According to the representatives of the Turkmen side, when developing the State Budget for the next year, several scenarios and external risks are taken into account, as well as preference is given to social programs, sustainable development and increasing the welfare of the population.
The meeting participants considered the draft of the IMF October 2020 World Economic Outlook, which will assess the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the medium-term prospects of economic development of countries, including Turkmenistan.
The IMF recommendations for the country's further economic growth are consonant with the programme objectives set by the President of Turkmenistan and consistently implemented in state policy.
Meeting participants underlined the importance of comprehensive measures taken in the country to increase investment in strengthening the capacity of the national health care system.
