VIDEO STATEMENT OF THE PRESIDENT OF TURKMENISTAN AT THE UN GENERAL ASSEMBLY SESSION HAD BEEN DISCUSSED AT THE INSTITUTE OF INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS OF THE MFA OF TURKMENISTAN
On September 24, 2021, the conference was held at the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, dedicated to the video statement of the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov at the 76th session of the UN General Assembly which took place on the 21st of September 2021.
The event was attended by the heads and officers of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the rectors, teaching staff of the higher educational institutions of the country.
Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov, having congratulated the participants of the meeting on the upcoming holiday – 30th anniversary of the Independence of the country outlined main directions of the statement of the President of Turkmenistan at the 76th session of the UN General Assembly and noted historical significance of the proposed regional and international initiatives.
As the Leader of the Nation emphasized in his speech, close and coordinated cooperation of states and major international organizations is required to achieve the common main goal of ensuring global peace and security.
As is known, summarizing the events within the framework of the International Year of Peace and Trust, Turkmenistan, as an initiator of this decision, plans to convene in December of this year in Ashgabat the International Conference “The policy of peace and trust is the foundation of international security, stability, and development”. In this regard, UN member-states and international organizations have been invited to take an active part in this event.
“We consider that the subject of trust and dialogue culture initiated this year should be the focus of global attention and become permanent element of the UN strategic agenda.”, said the President of Turkmenistan.
In order to maintain international peace, security and sustainable development in Central Asian and the Caspian Basin region, Turkmenistan proposes the creation of the “Central Asia - Caspian region” Zone of Peace, Trust and Cooperation, the leader of the Nation emphasized.
In this context, the Foreign Minister, quoting the President of Turkmenistan, emphasized that our country has been and remains deeply interested in the political stability and security of Afghanistan, and the well-being and unity of the brotherly Afghan people. At the same time, we are firmly committed to solving conflicts by peaceful, political and diplomatic means.
Speakers at the conference, noting the importance of the speech of the Leader of the Nation, emphasized the relevance of initiative aimed at fully expanding cooperation of the country with the UN and other reputable organizations and states.
Aksoltan Atayeva, Permanent Representative of Turkmenistan to the United Nations, noting the particular importance of the statement by the Leader of the Nation, said that Turkmenistan would also continue promoting its earlier initiatives to enhance multilateral cooperation through scientific diplomacy.
At the current session, Turkmenistan looks forward to continuing a broad dialogue on achieving the Sustainable Development Goals and, in this regard, considers it necessary to organize another international conference on financing for development in the near future.
It was also emphasized that Turkmenistan is ready to contribute to the global challenge of migration policy.
At the end of the conference, the relevance of the speech of the President of Turkmenistan and the importance of broad examination of initiatives aimed at strengthening a culture of peace and trust was emphasized.
