THE EIGHTH TURKMEN-RUSSIAN ECONOMIC FORUM WAS HELD

On October 20, 2021, the 8th Turkmen-Russian Economic Forum, organized by the Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan and the Russian Federation, was held in videoconferencing format.

The agenda of the next business meeting included specific issues of industrial cooperation, expanding the export and investment potential of enterprises and companies of the two countries, cooperation in the areas of construction production, processing industries of the agro-industrial complex, digital technologies and logistics.

The stimulus for holding the current economic forum was the agreements reached by Presidents Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Vladimir Putin, including the successful work of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Russian Commission on Economic Cooperation, active interaction at the level of ministries and departments, Chambers of Commerce and Industry and business communities of the two countries.

Heads and representatives of a number of ministries, government agencies and organizations, banking and financial structures, Chambers of Commerce and Industry of the regions, as well as large companies, attended the meeting from the Russian side.

Leaders and specialists of sectoral ministries and departments, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, enterprises and companies represented Turkmenistan.

Representatives of the private sector of the two countries made presentations of their export opportunities and import needs in the field of industry and production of building materials, textiles, agriculture, as well as in the areas of logistics, tourism, digital technologies.

It was emphasized that the activation of bilateral ties with the regions and the largest industrial centers of the Russian Federation is one of the priority directions of the foreign policy strategy of Turkmenistan.

A separate topic for the exchange of business proposals was the use of the Turkmenbashi International Port as a logistics center in the Caspian region and investment opportunities in the shipbuilding industry.

Following the results of the VIII Turkmen-Russian Economic Forum, a number of documents were signed aimed at expanding bilateral cooperation in all areas of mutual interest.
