CENTRAL ELECTION COMMISSION OF TURKMENISTAN: ELECTIONS OF THE PRESIDENT OF TURKMENISTAN WERE HELD WITH A HIGH LEVEL OF VOTER TURNOUT
On March 13, 2022, a briefing was held in the Garagum hotel, by the Chairman of the Central Election Commission of Turkmenistan G. Muradov, dedicated to the results of the early elections of the President of Turkmenistan.
The Chairman of the Central Election Commission of Turkmenistan noted that the elections of the President of Turkmenistan were held with a high level of voter turnout. The elections were held on a broad alternative basis on the principles of democracy and openness: nine candidates from various parties, as well as initiative groups of citizens, applied for the presidency.
The website of the CEC of Turkmenistan conducted a live online broadcast of the voting process from a number of polling stations opened in the city of Ashgabat and the regions of the country, which ensured a high level of transparency in the elections.
The Chairman of the Central Election Commission emphasized that 2726 national observers and 75 international observers from the Commonwealth of Independent States, Shanghai Cooperation Organization, Organization of the Islamic Cooperation, Organization of Turkic States, as well as from a number of countries observed the course of the elections.
Representatives of foreign media accredited in Turkmenistan, as well as those who arrived in our country by invitation covered the election of the President of Turkmenistan.
It was also noted that in the elections in Turkmenistan, out of a total of 3,460,080 registered voters, 3,362,052 people voted, which amounted to 97.17 percent.
G. Muradov stated that on March 12 at 19.00 in the evening voting at the polling stations ended, but information continues to come from foreign polling stations. He stressed that the final information on the results of the elections, within the time limits specified by law, will be brought to the attention of the population.
