PRODUCTIVE NEGOTIATIONS WITH THE DELEGATION FROM THE LAND OF THE RISING SUN AT THE ALMA MATER OF TURKMEN DIPLOMACY
Fruitful work is being carried out between Turkmenistan and Japan in the field of science and education. Cooperation between the academic circles of the two states is being activated. Meetings between universities and scientific institutions of our countries are regularly held. In the context of bilateral relations, the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan also actively contributes to its development. As an example to it was the meeting of the Japanese delegation to the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan on September 5, 2023.
At the beginning of the meeting the rector Jumamyrat Gurbangeldiyev briefly introduce to honourable guests the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, which was established on March 20, 2008 by a special Decree of the President of Turkmenistan. The Institute of International Relations, established by the wise and far-sighted decision of our National Leader, based on the fundamental principles of modern higher education and diplomacy, comprehensively studies the best world experience, carries out extensive international cooperation. In accordance with the signed documents on cooperation with 32 universities and diplomatic academies of 27 countries, work is underway for further develop bilateral cooperation in order to train and improve the skills of specialists. On October 22, 2015, Institute of International Relations hosted a meeting of students with the wife of the late Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe - Akina Abe. During the meeting, the students demonstrated their knowledge of the Japanese language, and also discussed important issues of developing humanitarian and cultural ties with Japan with Mrs. Abe. On November 8-15, 2015, the vice-rector of our Institute, as part of the celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Permanent Neutrality of Turkmenistan, visited your country and took part in events organized by the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Japan. Within the framework of the visit, the representative of the Institute also visited several higher educational institutions of Japan and were acquainted with their advanced activities. He put forward a several proposals for the development of closer cooperation, such as: organizing online lectures of the famous Japanese professors, laureates of Nobel Prize for students of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, assistance in publishing articles of the lecturers in scientific publications of Japan, organizing different exchange programs for students as well as teachers. As the rector mentioned books became the bridge between two friendly countries.
The President of the University of Tsukuba of Japan Mr. Kyosuke Nagata emphasized that this meeting gives great impulse for developing futher mutual relations between Turkmen-Japan. Executive Director of Nippon Foundation Yuji Mori with great interest accepted the suggestions by Turkmen side. It’s worthy to note about Nippon Foundation of Tokyo, Japan, that a private, non-profit grant-making organization. The foundation's mission is to direct Japanese motorboat racing revenue into philanthropic activities; it uses this money to pursue global maritime development and assistance for humanitarian work, both at home and abroad. In the humanitarian field, it focuses on such fields as social welfare, public health, and education.
During the meeting, the rector of our Institute mentioned about friendly relations between the two countries and exchanged views on further expanding relations in the field of education and science.
At the end of the meeting, the Japanese delegation was acquainted with the yurta, where the intellectual competition “The young messengers of peace” are held.
