On March 2, 2025, the Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Japan, A.Bayramov, participated in the "Tokyo Marathon 2025" held in the Japanese capital.

The event attracted over 38,000 participants from various countries around the world. The Tokyo Marathon is an annual global event where participants are challenged to run a distance of 42,195 kilometers. The marathon is one of the six major marathons in the "World Marathon Majors" series and holds a platinum level under "World Athletics." This event is sponsored by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government.

In an interview with media representatives, the Ambassador emphasized that the leadership of Turkmenistan places great importance on promoting healthy lifestyles within society, particularly in encouraging the youth to engage in physical activity and sports. As a result of the comprehensive strategy initiated by the National Leader of the Turkmen people and consistently implemented by the President of Turkmenistan, all necessary conditions have been created in Ashgabat to support such initiatives.

Notable examples of the commitment of Turkmenistan to further developing sports include the resolutions initiated by the country's leadership at the United Nations General Assembly, such as the United Nations Friendship Games Resolution, the Resolution to declare 3 June as World Bicycle Day, and the Resolution on the integration of mainstream bicycling into public transportation systems for sustainable development. These initiatives were adopted by the United Nations General Assembly reflecting the high esteem in which Turkmenistan is held by the international community.

In addition, Turkmenistan and Japan are currently actively cooperating in the field of sports, including in the preparation of Turkmen judokas for participation in major sporting events.
