Doctors from Kyushu National University Hospital in Fukuoka are currently on a working visit to Turkmenistan. Within the framework of a special program of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Japanese doctors are sharing their experience with Turkmen specialists.

During their visit to medical centers located in Ashgabat, the Japanese guests highly appreciated the equipment of these centers. During the visit, Japanese doctors also participated in the treatment of patients together with their Turkmen colleagues. The exchange of experience in modern endoscopic surgical interventions in the gastrointestinal tract was of great importance for local doctors.

On November 18, 2025, a scientific and practical conference was held at the International Scientific and Clinical Center of Physiology with the participation of professors, doctors and specialists from Turkmenistan and Japan.

During the event, special attention was paid to discussing the achievements and features of endoscopic surgery, a modern surgical treatment method.

Tomohiko Mariama, a professor and endoscopy specialist at Kyushu National University Hospital, explains:

“We performed endoscopic surgeries at the International Physiological Scientific and Clinical Center together with local doctors. New diagnostic and therapeutic methods are constantly being introduced into medical practice. The introduction of the most advanced technologies and methods into Turkmenistan’s healthcare institutions contributes to achieving high efficiency and quality in this area. There is close cooperation between the two countries in areas of mutual interest. We are very pleased to participate in the development of this cooperation in the medical sector.”
