13th Senior officials meeting, Central Asia+Japan
On 26-27 November 2018, Senior officials meeting took a place in Tokyo, in the framework of the Dialogue “Central Asia + Japan”. The meeting was held 2 days and it were discussed wide range of mutually beneficial issues of regional and bilateral cooperation. Particularly, delegations of member countries discussed issues in the sphere of tourism, transport logistics, agriculture and water, trade-economy, regional cooperation and security. Turkmen side stressed attention of participants to efforts of Turkmenistan on enhancing partnership in CA region as well as bilaterally with Japan, under the guidance of the leader of country Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. It was highlighted endeavors and initiatives of Turkmenistan on saving Aral Sea, assistance to afghan people, joint cooperation with UN Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia on maintaining peace and prosperity in the Central Asia region.
In addition, it was mentioned by Turkmen and Japanese sides the importance of the visit of Governmental delegation of Turkmenistan to Tokyo, on 22-23 October 2018. Sides expressed the confidence, that high-level meetings, which were conducted during abovementioned visit, will promote bilateral relationship for future strengthening.
Also during the Senior officials meeting was exchanged opinions on cooperation in the framework international organizations, especially cooperation in the framework of United nations. Participants agreed to activate the cooperation in international organizations, through supporting initiative of the countries which are aimed at the development of the world community. Taking opportunity, Turkmen side congratulated Japanese colleagues on the occasion of Selection of Japanese city Osaka to host World Expo in 2025.
On 27 November 2018, heads of delegations of Central Asian countries were received by the Parliamentary Vice-minister of Foreign affairs of Japan Mr. Kenji Yamada. During the meeting sides discussed prospective areas of regional and bilateral cooperation.
On the same day, sides exchanged minds on the agenda and other preparatory works of the 7th meeting of Ministers of foreign affairs of the Dialogue “Central Asia + Japan”, which will be held in Dushanbe, Tajikistan.
