Priorities of the Turkmen-Japanese cooperation are discussed in Tokyo
The delegation headed by the Chairman of the Turkmen-Japanese Interparliamentary Friendship Group under the Mejlis of Turkmenistan, Deputy Hyakim of Ahal Velayat, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, arrived in Japan.
During the meeting with the Speaker of the House of Representatives of Japan, Tadamori Ōshima, the sides discussed a number of important areas of mutually beneficial cooperation.
The exchange of views on the various spheres of the interstate cooperation, including in the political, diplomatic, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres took place during the meeting.
The parties expressed satisfaction with the progressive dynamics of the interstate dialogue, built on the principles of equality, mutual respect and trust. Turkmenistan and Japan demonstrate the mutual commitment to enhance the fruitful relations. The countries develop cooperation in the multilateral format as well, in the frames of the Dialogue “Central Asia + Japan”.
The meeting participants discussed the possibilities of widening cooperation in the sphere of transport in the context of the transit and transport logistics centre of the continental importance that will connect the East and the West, Asia and Europe.
The prospects of the partnership in the agro-industrial sector were also discussed given the structural changes taken place in the agricultural industry and the tasks on the efficient management of land and water resources, and environment protection.
Particular attention was paid to the cooperation in the sphere of sports in the frames of the preparation for the XXXII Summer Olympic Games that will be held in Tokyo in 2020.
Moreover, the issues on strengthening the interparliamentary cooperation were discussed dusring the meeting. In particular, the parties focused on the efficiency of the meetings between the parliamentarians of the two countries.
With the aim to learn more about the achievements of Japanese scientists, the Turkmen delegation visited the National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation of Japan - the Miraikan in Odaiba, Tokyo. New prospects for fruitful cooperation in various areas are stipulated by the large-scale transformations carried out in our country, and the course towards the rfundamental modernization and industrialization of the national economy, the introduction of high technologies.
The delegation also visited Ariake Water Reclamation Center, where they got acquainted with the work of the high-tech center for water purification. International cooperation in this area is one of the aspects of water diplomacy initiated by Turkmenistan.
