Cotton sowing campaign is launched

Important agricultural campaign – the cotton sowing, has started in the country. According to the schedule, cotton producers of Ahal, Balkan, Lebap and Mary Velayats has started the campaign on March 25.

Cotton production is one of the leading branches of national agricultural complex, which provides significant contribution to realization of the state programmes in import substitutive sphere and increment of export potential of the country. last year, the cotton grower have exceeded their contractual obligations, having produced more than 1,050,000 tons of raw cotton.

The efficiency of agrarian sector grows due to deep reforms in this sphere, under which issues of engineering and technical provision of agricultural complex are solved, equipment of modern modifications, which match soil and climate conditions of the country perfectly, is procured.

Significant financial resources are allocated for irrigation and melioration of agricultural fields, development of seed production, science and selection. The cotton ginning industry has been modernized, modern processing plants have been built in the regions.

Work for digitization of agriculture, introduction of advanced agricultural technologies as well as improvement of cost efficiency and leasing relations is carried out.

According to the Resolution of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, arable lands for the cotton have been increased this year up to 620,000 hectares. This decision has been taken due to the construction and opening of new textile facilities, growth of internal demand on cotton products.

Private agricultural producers, who received lands from special land fund of agricultural purpose, will also participate in cultivation of this crop.

In general, it is planned to produce 1,259,000 tons of cotton in the country including 280,000 tons in Ahal Velayat, 10,000 tons in Balkan Velayat, 275,000 tons in Dashoguz Velayat, 320,000 tons in Lebap Velayat and 365,000 tons in Mary Velayat.

Best seeds of the cotton, which medium fibre varieties are traditionally cultivated in all regions of the country, have been prepared for the beginning of the sowing. It includes preferred varieties like Yolotem 7, Dashoguz 120, Dashoguz 144, Serdar, C – 4727, Yoloten 39, Jeyhun, C-2606, which are distinguished with early maturity, good production, length and purity of fibres. Following soil and climate conditions, the sowing of fine fibre varieties of cotton, in particular Yoloten 14, is made in Ahal and Mary Velayats.

More than 7,600 different tractors, more than 1,700 planters, more than 5,000 cultivators and other agricultural equipment providing uninterrupted sowing campaign as well as fulfilment of following agricultural works will be used in this campaign.

It is planned to use new equipment, which was delivered to the country recently, in particular the planters provided with telematics digital electronic system, tractors, which were bought from the world leader of agricultural equipment manufacturer – John Deere.

375 laboratories, which work in etraps and at farming association, are prepared to new agricultural season. The laboratories will provide the farmers with eco-friendly and beneficial biological production used for pest control.

On the threshold of the sowing, seminars dedicated to current objectives of modernization of agricultural production were held in farming associations Gyavers, Ak Bugday etrap, Ahal Velayat, Watan, Charjew etrap, Lebap Velayat, Zarpchy, Mary etrap, Mary Velayat, Goch, Serdar etrap, Balkan Velayat.

Subjects related to good production of cotton and other crops were under close attention of the participants of the seminar, which included heads and representatives of velayat and etrap administrations, Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Protection, the State Service Türkmenstandartlary, the State Commercial Daýhanbank, public organizations, agronomists, machine operators, cotton producers.

Exhibitions of agricultural equipment and production of processing facilities of agricultural complex of Turkmenistan were organized under the events on occasion of the sowing campaign. Music, folk and choreographic collectives of the velayats prepared artistic gifts to the cotton producers.
