MEETING BETWEEN THE REPRESENTATIVES OF THE UN AND ENTITIES OF TURKMENISTAN ON ESSENTIAL ISSUES OF COOPERATION
On the 21st of April, 2020, the first meeting of the Joint working group between the Government of Turkmenistan and the United Nations on socio-economic impact of COVID-19 took place in the premises of the UN Representative Office in Turkmenistan.
The representatives of the United Nations and its structural agencies functioning in our country, as well as the representatives of a number of ministries and departments of Turkmenistan, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Finance and Economy and other agencies of the country participated to the meeting.
During the session, the parties exchanged views on urgent issues of the international agenda and acceleration of cooperation between the Government of Turkmenistan and the UN on a number of key areas of national economy. Within the meeting, the presentation and discussion of the results of preliminary analysis of potential socio-economic effect on Turkmenistan due to the spread of infectious diseases worldwide took place, including the presentation on the measures implemented by our country on governmental level for decreasing the negative impact of global crisis evolved in the result of the pandemic.
The participants of the meeting also discussed the joint measures on softening the social and economic impact on the vulnerable layers of society and the assistance of the UN agencies in Turkmenistan in their full-fledged implementation.
