PRESIDENT OF TURKMENISTAN HAD A TELEPHONE CONVERSATION WITH THE UN SECRETARY GENERAL

On April 22, 2020, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov had a telephone conversation with the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Mr. Antonio Guterres.

During the conversation, the parties discussed pressing international issues, including the establishment of a comprehensive partnership of peoples and countries during this period, which is crucial for the world community. The parties emphasized the importance of the coordinating role of the UN, since today mankind has faced a new, extremely serious challenge that has embraced vast geographical spaces on the planet and is changing the familiar life of many states and peoples.

The interlocutors also discussed the preparations for the upcoming anniversary session of the UN General Assembly dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the creation of a global organization. The Head of State also said that this year is a jubilee year for our country, this year Turkmenistan marks the 25th anniversary of the adoption of the UN General Assembly resolution “On the Permanent Neutrality of Turkmenistan”.

According to the President, the UN efforts to maintain stability in the world during this difficult period create an atmosphere of solidarity and serve as the basis for coordinated actions of all states.
