A TELEPHONE CONVERSATION TOOK PLACE BETWEEN PRESIDENT OF TURKMENISTAN AND PRESIDENT OF THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION

On May 12, 2020, a telephone conversation took place between President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin.

Having warmly greeted each other, the heads of the two states noted with satisfaction the invariably friendly character of the Turkmen-Russian relations, built on the principles of mutual respect, constructiveness and strategic partnership.

In the course of the conversation, Presidents Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Vladimir Putin cordially congratulated each other on the 75th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, addressing the wishes of prosperity and prosperity to the peoples of both countries.

According to the Turkmen leader, on May 9 in Turkmenistan this anniversary was solemnly celebrated, paying tribute to the valor and courage of those who did not return from the war, to veterans, home front workers.

In this regard, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov thanked his Russian counterpart for sending the delegation of the Russian Federation headed by the Deputy Minister of Defense to Turkmenistan, and also for the decision to transfer the Battle Banner of the 748th Infantry Regiment of the 206th Infantry Division of the 2nd Ukrainian front where his grandfather - Berdimuhamed Annaev fought, to the Turkmen side for eternal storage.

During the telephone conversation, the parties also exchanged views on a number of relevant aspects of the regional and global agenda of mutual interest. In this context, the topic of combating the coronavirus pandemic, which has become a serious test for the entire world community, was raised. At the same time, it was emphasized that from the first days of the outbreak of coronavirus infection, Turkmenistan and the Russian Federation actively cooperated, showing solidarity and mutual support.

Presidents Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Vladimir Putin also discussed priority issues of the interstate trade and economic partnership, which occupies an important place on the agenda of the Turkmen-Russian dialogue.

At the end of the conversation, reaffirming their mutual readiness for multifaceted cooperation, Presidents Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Vladimir Putin exchanged best wishes for each other, as well as veteran front-line soldiers and fraternal peoples of Turkmenistan and the Russian Federation.
