MEETING ON HUMAN RIGHTS ISSUES WITH EXPERTS FROM NATIONAL HUMAN RIGHTS INSTITUTIONS OF THE COUNTRIES OF THE ASIA-PACIFIC FORUM
On June 2, 2020, the Ombudsman of Turkmenistan met with experts on human rights from the countries of the Asia-Pacific Forum of National Human Rights Institutions. The session, organized in the form of a video conference, was held in the framework of cooperation between UNDP and the Office of the Ombudsman of Turkmenistan.
The meeting was attended by Y. Gurbannazarova, Ombudsman of Turkmenistan, N. Natsvishvili, acting UNDP Resident Representative in our country, R. Komenda, OHCHR Regional Representative for Central Asia, experts from countries of the Asia-Pacific Forum of National Human Rights Institutions for Human Rights, UNDP Regional Office in Istanbul, as well as experts from the UNDP Office in Turkmenistan.
Technical consultations with the Ombudsman of Turkmenistan on the accreditation procedure carried out by the Global Alliance of National Human Rights Institutions became the goal of this video session.
During the negotiations, participants discussed issues related to the role of the Asia-Pacific Forum in strengthening the capacity of national human rights institutions, and a discussion was held on further joint projects in the field of human rights.
