Import substitution: From composite rebar to hygiene

Turkmenistan, which entered the way of diversification of the economy, successfully implements government programmes of industrial development and production of wide range of import substitutive production.

Introduction of market mechanisms, activation of entrepreneurship initiative and generation of innovations are priority directions of the government policy. The role of private sector is growing the structural modernization of the economy and expansion of import substitutive production due to integrated measures.

For example, “Compozitenergo” business entity has increased the production of fibreglass rebar used in construction of power energy facilities. From the beginning of the year, production of this commodity from materials procured from Polotsk- Steklovolokno Ltd (The Republic of Belarus) has started at the Ferro concrete Plant located in Byuzmeyin etrap of the capital.

Depends on application, the rebar from fibreglass can be soaked with epoxy, polyester and polyester vinyl resins, which add special features like durability, chemical and water resistance. It is distinguished by low weight and high durability.

Production line with output capacity of 10,000 tons of fibreglass rebar per year has been installed in one of the workshops of the plant. Compozitenergo has already produced more than 400 tons of this construction material, which is used for construction of various facilities as well as for the foundations of overhead power lines and Samples of composite rebar have been successfully tested in the Scientific and Research Institute of Seismic Construction of Turkmenistan. The facility received certificate of compliance and safety certificate; calculation of cost of new material from fibreglass has been approved, development of standards of use is carried out.

Production of two models of men’s shavers and several types of toothpaste have been arranged by Türkmeniň Rysgaly Individual Entity.

Production of the company, which was established in 2016, like wet towels, sanitary pads, washing powder for automatic and hand wash, made under Ak Bulut logo, has become daily essentials and are on high consumer demand due to optimum ratio of cost and quality. Entire production line is made as per international standards. It has high hygiene features; it is anti-allergic and eco-friendly.

More than 72,000 shaving items have been produced from the launch of new production line in April this year. In addition, entrepreneurs from Mary have bought automated equipment for production of 40,000 packs of soap and detergent per shift.

In near future, the company plans to develop the production of liquid soap, shampoo and shower gel. Liquid cleaning supplies from Ak Bulut would be bottled in plastic containers, which is also made at the facility.
