Financial experts from the US are invited to mutually beneficial cooperation

The Ministry of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan hosted a videoconference meeting with Counselor to the Chief Executive Officer of the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (USIDFC), Caleb McCarry.

The meeting brought together the heads and leading specialists of the financial and economic department, as well as the State Bank for Foreign Economic Affairs, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the US Embassy in Turkmenistan.

The meeting participants discussed the prospects for bilateral cooperation in the context of "open door" policy pursued by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, one of the key aspects of which is the strengthening multifaceted dialogue with the United States of America.

Exchanging views on priority areas of cooperation, special attention was paid to the private sector of the economy, the possibilities of providing financial, consulting and technical support to small and medium-sized businesses, primarily in the field of high-tech industries in various sectors of the national economy.

The information about the work carried out by the State Bank for Foreign Economic Affairs to establish the International Investment Fund of Turkmenistan was presented during the meeting. American partners were invited to take part in this project.

In this regard, it was emphasized that the innovative component of the economic reforms carried out in the country, the favorable investment climate contribute to the development of constructive and fruitful cooperation with foreign companies and financial institutions.

Moreover, Turkmenistan confirmed the willingness to consider the issues related to the creation of the Central Asian Development Fund (C5 Fund), which is designed to facilitate the implementation of projects and programmes, including the development of industrial and transport infrastructure, agriculture and other sectors.
